About Substrate Wire

Substrate Wire tracks two races — the AI race between frontier labs, and the shadow war between states. It aggregates open-source intelligence signals, AI developments, geopolitical OSINT, and macro news. The pipeline rebuilds several times a day and maintains a public prediction track record on its Shadow War board.

Who runs it

One person. No staff, no newsroom, no funding. Built as a tool for signal-to-noise over doomscroll feeds. Contact: [email protected].

The machines are the staff. Substrate Wire is produced on local hardware in a Southern California garage — the site that tracks the AI buildout does not run on it. That independence is deliberate, and it is what reader support pays for: see the Local Compute Fund.

How it works

The Shadow Wire section is generated from public-source inputs and constrained by explicit evidence rules, uncertainty labels, and an append-only calibration ledger.

The news sections (AI, geopolitics, markets, health, space) use a bounded editorial pipeline for ranking, deduplication, importance scoring, and summarization. Full details on the methodology page.

Support

Substrate Wire is free forever. No ads. No paywall. No tracking. Support helps keep the public briefing available without ads, paywalls, or tracking. Support page →
